Change Kids’ Health, Change the Future During Lunar New Year at Panda Express
This Friday, February 12, 2021, marks the beginning of Lunar New Year and the Year of the Ox in the Chinese zodiac. Lunar New Year celebrates the coming together of family and friends to feast and welcome the new year and is the most important festival in China.
Since 2007, Panda Express has been bringing good fortune to millions of kids treated at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, including Dell Children’s Medical Center, by asking for donations at the register all year long. Funds donated stay local and impact patients and families in your community. Additionally, Panda opened many Centers of Hope, which are hospital spaces designed to provide a safe and comforting place where kids can be kids again.
We want to join alongside the associates and guests celebrating this Lunar New Year and take a moment to recognize the immense impact made on Dell Children’s in 2020. More than $180,000 was raised to support the Dell Children’s Blood and Cancer Center (CBCC) Embedded Behavioral Clinic. The clinic gives pediatric cancer patients the benefit of comprehensive health care – addressing both mind AND body, with mental health services paired with medical cancer care – all in one convenient clinic visit. With Panda Express’ generosity, this much-needed psychosocial support eases the stress experienced by children and their families during the cancer diagnosis period, through treatment, and beyond. Care is provided by the CBCC psychosocial team of child life specialists and social workers with added support from psychologists from the embedded behavioral health unit as they work through common issues in pediatric cancer care
