Texas THON makes $228,000 Miracles #ForTheKids

Sunday, March 4th 2018 the Gregory Gym on UT’s campus was filled with dedicated and passionate college students celebrating something they’ve been working hard for all year long. UT’s Miracle Network Dance Marathon, Texas THON, still holds the record of the largest Dance Marathon in the state of Texas after announcing a grand total of $228,138.69 in 2018. Students stood (no sitting allowed) for a total of 12 hours from 10am to 10pm representing the theme, “We stand for those who can’t” during this annual fundraising celebration benefiting Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.

So many in the Longhorn community came together to make this achievement possible; from the students, to their advisers, Dell Children’s patient families, lovingly called Miracle Families, to Dell Children’s Foundation, Child Life and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The students even received a special video message from Coach Herman and the Longhorn football team in support of their efforts.

$228,000 makes a huge impact at Dell Children’s Medical Center, the only level one trauma center in all of Central Texas and a place where no child is ever turned away regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These funds help to ensure that every child can receive the care they need and that kids can be kids even when they’re in the hospital. Congratulations to everyone who was a part of this amazing accomplishment. Hook Em!
