Grateful for Another Wonderful Spanish Radiothon!
The annual Spanish Radiothon with Waterloo Media Spanish Stations 107.1 La Z and 97.1 Latino took place in the Dell Children’s Lobby on December 5th and 6th from 6am to 7pm. Both stations broadcasted live from the hospital lobby to raise critical funds for Dell Children’s. Several Spanish-speaking physicians, hospital staff, patients, and families were able to stop by and share their Dell Children’s stories on-air. This event is so special because of the way it brings the community together to support a place that has touched so many of their lives in different ways.
Foundation staff members also took donations in the lobby throughout the duration of the event. Those that came in to give drove from different parts of Austin and its vast surrounding areas in order to visit the hospital to make their donation, meet the DJ’s, and share their Dell Children’s story. Each person that walked through the front doors carried a piece of Dell Children’s with them, whether it was a niece who was treated for a broken arm, or a child of their own who fought their battle with cancer within these walls. All of them had the same sense of urgency to give back to a place that has given so much to them.
This year the radiothon raised over $162,000! This would not have been possible without the support from the incredible DJ’s and staff at both 107.1 La Z and 97.1 Latino. They brought the energy throughout the long days, and rallied their listeners to support a mission that they are passionate about themselves. Danny and Nancy from the Children’s Miracle Network team also provided their expert support and advice throughout the radiothon. Dell Children’s is so grateful for this event, and is looking forward to another successful Spanish Radiothon in 2025!
